The talk shows many of the creatures, of all shapes and sizes, that Ian Schulz and his wife Gerry encountered on their holiday in Indonesia. The title of the talk refers to the famous Komodo Dragons.

Tues 6th Nov – Skittles, Quiz and Supper

7.00pm Highcliffe Castle Golf Club

Our ever popular fun evening at a new venue, so the format will be slightly different.

There will be a full bar available and a raffle as usual.

12 noon for 12.30 South Lawns Hotel, Milford-on-Sea

Due to the hotel’s popularity and value for money we were unable to obtain a booking in December. However, a festive 3 course lunch, coffee and a glass of wine to start are on offer.

Tues 4th Dec – Hampshire: Nature in Trust

2.30pm St Mary’s Church Hall, Everton

Our speaker is photographer and writer,  Mike Read, known for his love of the natural world.

Mike visited one Hampshire and Isle of Wight Trust reserve each month to take photographs of scenery, wildlife and flowers, which we will enjoy with his usual light and informative commentary.

Wed 23rd Jan – The Greek Islands and Ephesus

2.30pm Barton-on-Sea Methodist Church Hall, Sea Road

Christopher LeGrand has delivered a number of enjoyable, illustrated talks to the Association in the past.

The magical islands of Kos, Mykonos, Rhodes and Santorini are all included in this illustrated talk along with a visit to the ancient remains of the Turkish city of Ephesus.

Tues 14th Feb – Lakeland authors: Connections and Secrets

2.30pm Brockenhurst Village Hall

Our speaker this afternoon is David Stocks.

Following last years successful talk on Beatrix Potter, David returns with a new talk featuring some of the other Lake District authors whose lives seem to intertwine and have complications that they may have preferred to keep secret.

Our second Skittles evening of the season and we hope everyone who attended November’s event enjoyed themselves and will want to join us again and bring some friends for what we hope will be another fun evening.

Wed 6th Mar – The Polar Arctic

2.30pm Barton-on-Sea Methodist Church Hall, Sea Road

Neil Stewart is an inveterate traveller whose interest in nature and the environment has taken him around the world. This presentation stems from a voyage aboard a Russian ice-breaker to remote Svalbard and beyond. The journey starts in Longyearbyen, the oldest existing settlement in the archipelago. During the voyage we will encounter spectacular icebergs and glaciers, plus the resident wildlife.

Wed 3rd Apr – Hypnosis “Look into my eyes”

7.30pm New Milton Community Centre

Alan Jones has studied and practiced hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy for more than forty years. He will unravel the history and mystery of hypnosis and its relevance to the modern day.
